La Gigliola Winery - Montespertoli, Italy - Tuscany
Through the combination of history, tradition and progress,
the present owners of the estate, the Piazzini family produces
first-class wines that appear in the acclaimed wine guide Gambero
Rosso. The ancient wine-growing tradition and the special
qualities of the vineyards belonging to the "Fattoria La
Gigliola" guarantee the production of top-class wine. The
most popular and widely grown grape of the region and dominant
character of Chianti is the Sangiovese grape.
Alongside this, there are the Trebbiano Malvasia and Chardonnay
grapes which are used in the production of Bianco Toscano (Tuscan
white wine). An important step for the future was taken by investing
into the production of premium wines made from grapes such as
Merlot and Syrah. In the course of a private wine-tasting you
will be able to find out for yourself the subtle differences
between the grape varieties and to learn more about wine production.
"Quality based on tradition" is the motto of the Piazzini
family: It applies not only to the production of red and white
wine but also to its production of excellent grappas and an outstanding
extra virgin olive oil. After selected olives have been carefully
sorted by hand, they are pressed in the traditional method, bottled
and then sent to countless customers at home and abroad.
